Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park Nature Playground

I recently visited Winnipeg for a very brief trip, and with just a few minutes of free time before I had to head to the airport, I decided to try to find Winnipeg’s Best Playground. Assiniboine Park Nature Playground did not disappoint!
The highlight of the playground is the colourful play area made up of two rainbow slides, surrounded by hills of green rubber and colourful hopping balls. This area is amazing, with climbing holds built into the hill leading up to the top of the striped slides.
Opposite the colourful area is a water play table and sand river. Kids were having a ball in this unique messy play area. The playground also has a huge rope climber leading up to a small crowsnest and metal slide. There are 2 baby swings, 2 saucer swings and a wheelchair-accessible swing that is human-powered and doesn’t require an attendant to operate it!
The nature playground is home to a statue of Lt. Harry Colebourn and Winnie the Bear – the famous inspiration for Winnie the Pooh! Not pictured, but also located within the playground area is the Streuber Family Children’s Garden.
Assiniboine Park Nature Playground has bathrooms, a picnic area and plenty of mature trees for shade. There is a free parking lot at the entrance to the playground. This playground is gated and closes at night so be sure to check for open hours when you plan to visit!
