Winter City Weekends
Thanks to the support of the Edmonton Arts Council, the Winter City Weekends program is BACK at City Hall for 2026!
Winter City Weekends includes Ice Grooves – returning January 2, 2026. These fun skates are offered on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm-9pm. Enjoy the music of local DJs and enjoy skating under the lights of City Hall Plaza with your family and friends!
Visit again on Sunday afternoons for Swing ‘n Skate. Show off your best dance moves inside City Hall as you dance along with swing, salsa, soca and big band music! Dance instruction is also offered. The music will be piped out to the plaza, so skaters can enjoy the sweet sounds too. Swing ‘n Skate resumes on Sunday, January 4 and will run every Sunday from 1pm-4pm until the end of February 2026.
FREE Skate Rentals in Edmonton:
Edmonton Arts Council is also pleased to offer FREE skate rentals at City Hall Plaza in Edmonton. These are offered on a first-come, first-served basis during the following times, until February 28, 2026.
- Monday to Friday – 5pm-9pm
- Saturdays – 12pm-9pm
- Sundays – 12pm-5pm

- Cost: Skating, dancing and skate rentals are offered FREE
