Wildwood’s Best Playground

Traveling the Yellowhead between Edmonton and Jasper? If you’re like us, you look for pit stop playgrounds along the way. We were thrilled to find this hidden gem in the tiny community of Wildwood, Alberta! (located about a 1 hour 20 minutes west of Edmonton)
Gunner Rehn Park is a baseball field that is also home to a playground, basketball court, asphalt pump track and bathroom building. There are also latching garbage bins and a covered picnic shelter.
We started at the playground and quickly made our way to the awesome pump track. The Wildwood Pump and Jump is one of several asphalt pump tracks located in small communities in Yellowhead County! (We also found an asphalt pump track at THIS amazing playground in Marlboro, Alberta)
The playground is packed with great variety! The main structure includes a tall tower with various climbers and four slides! There’s an outstanding obstacle area with monkey bars, climbers, and rope features, plus a spinner. A tall rope merry-go-round and small rope spinner sit back near the swing set, which offers 2 standard, 1 baby and 1 parent/child Kompanion swing. An adorable spring-rider horse completes the playground. This playground is based in wood chips.
