The Hills at Charlesworth
Sometimes the simplest designs are the most beautiful… and the most fun! The Hills at Charlesworth Playground is unique in Edmonton. The main structure is wooden rectangles with endless options for climbing and a great slide. The toddler park is adorable and still fuels my seven-year-olds’ imaginations.
The playground isn’t the only thing that stands out here. The community plaza is a lovely gathering space and well-used by residents. In the winter the concrete is flooded to create an ice ribbon. In the summer, the concrete is perfect scooters, skateboards and RC cars. (There’s not a traditional skate park here, but definitely space for skateboarding.) The playground sits next to a hill that would be great for sledding in winter too!
Next to the playground is a community garden, cared for with water from the cool giant watering can collection system! There are solar panels, free wifi and even a 9-hole disc golf course!
