Tamarack Playground
I love a playground that is also the hub of a community. I always get that feeling when we visit this one – Tamarack Playground at A Blair McPherson school. The park is exceptional – toddler park and big kid park all adorned with trees. The ropes obstacle course makes this playground one of our very favourites to visit, summer AND winter! There’s also a traditional merry go round, an umbrella spinner, a neat truck, teeter-totter, and swings – 3 standard, 2 baby, 1 accessible and 1 saucer. The park is based in rubber and wood chips.
Beyond the playground is a field that’s often occupied by sports games, kite flyers or kids learning to ride bikes. There’s also a nice little bike path made of dirt and bridges to the southwest of the playground. There are paved sections that run all around the school building – making it an ideal space for scooters, skateboards, bicycles and basketball – plus you’ll find ground games painted along the way. Across the field is a small hill that would be good for winter sledding. There are benches and picnic tables throughout, including a covered picnic area.
