St Vladimir School
The new (September 2023) playground at St Vladimir School will provide an amazing space for kids to play for years to come!
The girls immediately gravitated to the main structure with monkey bars, an open rope climber and two big slides. They also spent a lot of time enjoying accessory pieces like the tall rope merry-go-round, the spinners and even the toddler structure! (The highlight there for us was the colourful game panel – they made up games of trying to get certain colour beads into certain spaces by spinning the wheel!) There are four standard swings and two inclusive swings here too.
Consideration was put into inclusive play at this playground – the majority of the park is based in rubber. (There is a section based in wood chips) There are what I believe are mobility transfer stations at the base of the main park and the toddler park. Panel games are included at ground level. A small sand pit was installed in the corner of the playground for sensory play, and in the future, it will include seating along the perimeter. It also has a concrete barrier to keep the sand from spilling onto the rubber base.
There are some mature trees near the park for shade, as well as a few benches. St Vladimir also has a gorgeous outdoor classroom set under a beautiful big tree in the schoolyard.
