St Nicholas School

A new addition to the playground at Sherwood Park’s St. Nicholas School (formerly Jean Vanier School) opened in the fall of 2021, and it’s outstanding! The mega slide is very popular, as is the very cool obstacle course of climbers, monkey bars and balance beams that makes a loop to and from the main structure. This park also features a spinning chair, mini climbing dome and 4-seat teeter totter.

When the wooden playground was torn down, the second playground (the red and black playground) was left and it remains to the north of the new park. It features three bright red slides, a selection of climbers, including a boulder (look for the dinosaurs!) and another teeter-totter. This park sits just off the trail system, in a huge green space, and has picnic tables and benches. There are no swings and both parks are based in sand.

This playground sits along a lovely grove of trees that is perfect for nature play. In the winter, bring the sleds and follow the trail due south until it forks. (about 300metres, give or take.) There you’ll find an excellent, tucked-away sledding hill!
