RJW (Dick) Mather Memorial Park

Proof that kids don’t need tons of fancy equipment to enjoy an incredible place to play! This is the playground at RJW (Dick) Mather Memorial Park. It’s actually the first playground built in Edmonton’s Downtown neighbourhood! The playground consists of just 3 things – a small yellow double slide, a saucer swing, and a rope bridge contraption. The base is rubber, with green hills built up for the equipment and a river of blue flowing through the lower parts.

The adventures we had in this tiny playground: You have to use the rope bridge to cross the raging river! Swim down the river to be rescued by the saucer-swing “boat”! Time yourself on the ever-changing river/hill obstacle course!

This playground is small, based entirely in rubber, and has a beautiful covered gazebo nearby.
