The big old wooden playground at Lynnwood Park has been replaced by a new, modern and more inclusive playground! (2025) This playground offers a little bit of everything and I was pleasantly surprised by how expansive it is and how many fun options are included!

The main structure is large, with a climbing tower, two massive slides, a ramp and an accessible glider.  There are a lot of panel games and puzzles on the ramp and around other parts of the main structure, offer some unique pieces of added play.

Fun options abound through the rest of the playground. There is an obstacle course (my kids were taking turns racing!),  a unique tall climber with different climbing offshoots on three sides, swings (1 saucer, 2 baby and 4 standard), an in-ground merry-go-round and a toddler slide structure with a flexible ramp access instead of stairs. There is also a roller slide attached to the main playground.

There are communication signs posted around this playground, but they are broken up into signs with 6 images each, rather than 1 large sign with all the communication images.  This is the first playground where we’ve encountered communication boards posted in this fashion.

Lynnwood Park has both a boarded skating rink and a small skating pathway. Signs posted around the hall remind users that skate tags must be worn to access this ice. There is a large field beyond the playground offering additional space for fun, and a bank of trees at the south end of the field, which leads to a lovely path for a nature walk. Lynnwood Schools, which has a small playground of its own, is also just steps away.

This playground is based in a mix of wood chips and rubber. It also has a small sand pit for kids who like to dig and play in the sand.  There are plenty of benches and picnic tables and lots of mature trees for shade. There are bathrooms inside the community hall, which can only be accessed when it is open, so bathroom access is not guaranteed. And while this is not a school park, I believe that the school kids may use it during school hours.

This playground was designed and built by the team at Parkcraft.
