Joan Carr School

The new playground (September 2023) at Joan Carr School packs a lot of fun into a small space! The layout is unique and fun, with two tall slide towers that both connect to a rope bridge leading out to a tall rope climber!

There are only a few accessory pieces at this playground – one is a small disc spinner, which is the first we know of in Edmonton. The others are swings – four standard and one saucer swing.

Unique elements at this playground include a panel game that reads “The answer to your question is hidden in the stars”. Kids can ask a question and choose a star to spin to reveal the answer! There is also a fun measurement tool to check your height.

The only way to get up to the top of each of the towers, and the slides, is by using panel climbers. The climbers are quite easy for kids, but a little trickier for adults to manoeuver around!

This entire playground is based in rubber surfacing. Benches are not in place yet, though could be added as landscaping is completed. There is no shade at this playground.
