Hotel Zed Kelowna

I expected it to be really cool. I knew it was colourful and fun and Instagrammable. Funky, retro and hip – everything I’d seen online told me that Hotel Zed Kelowna would be the most unique hotel in which I’ve ever stayed.

What I didn’t know was that Hotel Zed Kelowna would be THE perfect family getaway in the Okanagan – and that we’d leave planning our next visit!

Right from the moment we set foot in the lobby, we knew that Hotel Zed is more than just a hotel – it’s a vibe! They’re true to their slogan – “Rebels against the ordinary”. Everything about this Kelowna Hotel makes for an experience that’s just a little different – and truth be told, just a little better!

It’s a vibe

The lobby is more than just a lobby – it’s a gathering space! Free coffee and tea are available for guests, day and night. The girls loved the retro lounge area, complete with record player, typewriter, table games and more! Roller skates, skateboards, bikes and helmets are available on-site for guests to use – and are proudly displayed as part of the decor! Everything, from the funky lights and shag pillows to the plush padded gold front desk lets you know that you’ve stepped back in time to the disco era!

Every room is equipped with a classic rotary phone, logoed for Hotel Zed of course! We were lucky enough to stay in a King and Bunks room, perfect for our family of four. The rooms are very clean, the beds are ultra comfortable and the style is supreme, with accents of orange, purple and red – plus rainbow art on the walls!

Amenities

Amenities? Hotel Zed has ’em! From rooftop patios and hanging egg chairs to the seasonal pool and hot tub area, hanging out outside Hotel Zed is as much fun as hanging inside! You can chill, soak up the sun (or stars!) and gaze out to gorgeous Lake Okanagan without ever leaving the property!

But wait! There’s more! The girls’ favourite part may have been the Ping Pong Lounge! It’s packed with family fun options for all ages. We found video games, two drawers full of board games, a collection of colouring material and art supplies, and, perhaps the cutest surprise of all – the dress-up drawer!

Location, location, location! Hotel Zed Kelowna is a bright and colourful beacon in the heart of the city. City Park is right across the street and the classic Ogopogo statue is just steps away. We had a great variety of restaurant options within walking distance. Free parking is included for hotel guests, too.

Hotel Zed boasts that it offers “all the comforts of home, if your home was weird!”. It’s a fun little trip back in time – and I can say for certain that our future will include a return to Zed!
