High Park School
The playground at High Park School in Stony Plain is a two-part play area that offers a lot of fun for kids of all ages!
The eye-catching green and orange of the big main structure is what first attracted us to this park. There are a variety of slides in this part of the park, plus monkey bars, climbers and several accessory features including a tall, layered rope climber, and the cutest little rocket ship! There are several spinners here – a bowl spinner, a platform spinner with a pole, and (our favourite!) the spinning-tilting-wobble-board! It’s a fun challenge to try to stand up on that piece of playground equipment!
Separated by a walkway is a second, smaller play area. Here you’ll find an umbrella spinner and small dome climber in the same colour scheme as the other part of the park. The remaining structure is an industrial-looking metal climber – stark in comparison to the bright features – but it’s a well-thought-out play area that poses challenges, particularly for climbers! There are holds, foot-stands and cut-out shapes everywhere, and climbers can pretty much access all sides and poles on this park! The girls tried to figure out how many different ways they could get up, and then alternated sliding down the standard slide or the arm-sliders!
Both playgrounds are based in wood chips. There are a few benches nearby, as well as a treed area for walking. This playground has no swings.
