Glenwood Park
They don’t make ’em like they used to! This is Glenwood Park – an absolute wooden classic, with all the great features that wooden playgrounds seem to share – a long ramp into the main structure, side-by-side red and blue slides, and extensive structures with lots of options. There are tons of accessories at this park – a rainbow dome climber, a big red truck, and a trio of spring-rider motorcycles. Glenwood park also has monkey bars, rings and old-school sliders, plus swings – 6 standard and 2 baby.
This playground is based in sand and there are benches and picnic tables as well as large trees all around it. In the winter, the community league floods the fenced arena, as well as a patch of leisure ice.
Our favourite feature of this playground used to be the unique pulley-system, (I’ve left up a photo for posterity!) but on our most recent visit, the pulley and sand play structure were replaced by a modern Cozy Cabin with mushroom stools. We were sad to see the pulley go – it was the only one of its kind in Edmonton!
