Ellerslie Crossing Park

I love when we come across a park with something special – the little extra touches that make it stand out. Ellerslie Crossing park may fall into the “older-but-still-awesome” category, but it has a LOT of little touches that make it stand out for me.

First up, the train. a big black locomotive engine with a cheery smiling face, plus a train crossing sign that displays the name of the playground! There are a lot of options for imaginative play here – from the big yellow bus, to the little hut with its store, to musical features and a cutout cave for “The Impstones”! But I think my favourite special touch is that there are Dr. Suess quotes carved into three of the rooftops along the playground. “These things are fun and fun is good”; “A person’s a person no matter how small.” and “Your mountain is waiting so get on your way.”

These playgrounds have all the favourites – slides, climbers, and obstacle course options. There’s a running wheel, arm sliders, and a tall rope merry-go-round. The spray park has a tall palm tree plus one clown fish and one dolphin sprayer, and a few more features set on a rubber coated base. The playgrounds are based in a mix of rubber and sand. there are benches all around as well as a covered picnic shelter.
