Churchill Square

Churchill Square is such a fun gathering space for Edmontonians! In every season of the year, you’ll find festivals, activities and opportunities for citizens to enjoy this beautiful spot.

Summer Fun in the Square
Of course, the City Hall fountains are a favourite part of a summer visit to Churchill Square. The fountain is expected to be on until September 4, 2023. We also love taking in festivals like the Street Performers Festival and A Taste of Edmonton. (City Hall is the biggest and best, but we’ve compiled a list of other Cool Fountains in Edmonton!)

In the summer, visitors will often find games and other play opportunities set out in the square. We’ve played with oversized checkers, chess and snakes & ladders games, giant blue blocks and building bricks, basketball and more!

The square is home to a fabulous piece of public art perfect for kids to climb! “A Mischief of Could-be(s)” by artists Erin Pankratz and Christian Peres Gibaut via Red Knot Studio. It’s a cool and colourful collection of tentacle-like structures that kids can climb. Each tentacle is beautifully covered in bright mosaics made from hand-cut tile! (This piece makes me want to make a second list – but for now, you can check out our list of Art Kids Love in Edmonton!)
