Calgary’s Carrot Park

You’ll come for the carrot – you’ll stay for all the other cool features! Calgary’s Carrot Park (named by me, naturally) is actually the new outdoor playground at Calgary’s Farmers’ Market West. Located in the shadows of Canada Olympic Park, this spot would make a perfect place to stop when you’re driving through Calgary to the mountains! The huge indoor market is open Wednesdays through Sundays and features plenty of vendors with fruits, veggies, prepared foods, baking and hand-crafted goods. There’s ample seating inside, nice clean bathrooms, and another indoor play area for the smaller kiddos!
Back to the new outdoor park! Aside from the giant climbing carrot (!!!) there is also a giant climbing apple core! A huge dome climbing structure sits nearby, as does a neat wooden balance-beam log play structure. There are a couple of swings, and the cutest old wooden car! (Think Flintstones!) Most of the playground is based in wood chips – only the old wooden car is based in sand.
