Calaway Park

“MOM! I remember that!” “We rode that last time, Mom!” “Oh, I love that one!” “Mom, do you remember when we…” Calgary’s famous Calaway Park isn’t just about Family Fun – as their signs all state – it’s also about making the BEST family memories! And even better – doing it at the best price around!

Calaway Park offers a full outdoor amusement park with rides for kids of all ages and much more – for a single price! We recommend purchasing PLAYCATION tickets online before your visit – they are just $39 plus GST per person and offer unlimited rides, live entertainment shows, access to the Cinemagic 3D theatre, the CP Spray & Play spray park, the Haunted Hotel, and yes, even your parking is included! (Games, food, merchandise, and a few other features, like the Twiz & Twirl Maze and Mulligan’s Island Mini Golf come at an additional cost.)

Big fun at a much smaller price!
With admission prices that reasonable, we don’t mind splurging on a few extras! The girls love trying their hands at some of the games, and we managed to snag some adorable prizes! We packed our own lunch and water bottles (there are bottle-filling stations by most bathrooms) but we made sure to save room for ice cream – and a stop at the beautifully renovated Sweet Toothe Candy Shop too! (more on that later!)

As we strolled the park, we pointed out to the girls all the cute little rides they loved on their first visit when they were just four. With the girls now opting for bigger and more daring rides, it really struck me how Calaway Park truly is a place for kids of all ages! There are so many options for smaller riders, and still plenty of fun for the bigger kids and adults too!

Nostalgia + New Features!
Calaway Park is packed with nostalgia – I love seeing the things that I remember from visits when I was a kid! (like the adorable Egg Ride) At the same time, the park is focused on constant improvements and adding new features! Our visit came just days before the new Riptide Racer ride opened! (We’re adding it to the must-do list for our next visit!) Four of the buildings in the entry plaza were renovated for the 2023 season and they look sensational! Village Shop, The Burger Inn, Sweet Toothe Candy Shop and Little Bucks Bumper Cars really stand out with their whimsical styles!

We visited Calaway Park on a hot summer Saturday and though it was busy, we found the lines to be not too bad at all! There are plenty of options for “downtime” too – you can take a break from rides at the CP Spray & Play spray park, or catch a 3-D movie in the Cinemagic Theatre! We love pausing to take in the live entertainment shows at the Celebration Stage. New for 2023 are the “Mad Tea Party” and “Summer Blast” shows. They’re high-energy shows, about 20 minutes in length with recognizable musical hits!

Halloweekends!
Though Calaway Park is certainly known as a summer staple, the fun doesn’t end when the calendar flips to September! From September 9 to October 9, Calaway Park is open Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday Mondays for the festival known as Halloweekends! There is no better way to kick off the Halloween season than by visiting this incredible amusement park in costume!

Calaway Park will always be a special spot for our family. Now we are just waiting for the girls to decide they’re ready to ride the amazing Vortex Rollercoaster!
