The new playground at St. Pius X Catholic School is now OPEN for play! (August 2026)

The original accessible playground was destroyed in an arson fire in July 2025.  Purple, blue and green dominates the new playground, as it did the original. Some of the equipment that wasn’t damaged in the fire has also been re-used too!

The first thing we noticed as we approached the new St. Pius X playground is the adorable panda statue sitting in the park. After that, you’re sure to spot the slides – a trio of colourful striped slides! The new playground features a good mix of challenging features with unique inclusive features.  There’s an obstacle course with climbing, hanging and balancing activities, as well as a floating tunnel bridge, a fire pole, and the coolest “pogo stick” apparatus! In addition to the new playground being fully accessible with rubber surfacing throughout, it also includes a variety of sensory features, music features and even a cozy space to get away from the action.

Phase 2 of St. Pius X School playground wasn’t damaged in the fire and remains as it was when it opened a couple years ago. There are two massive rope climbers, along with a music garden and swings (4 standard and 1 saucer). This part of the playground is set in wood chips.

St. Pius X school playground is set well back from the road and surrounded by a grass field. There are benches and a picnic shelter. There is no shade directly over the playground.
