It’s been three years in the making! Hawrelak Park has undergone a massive transformation, including upgrades to infrastructure, amenities, accessibility and more. Our favourite part is the amazing new playground at Hawrelak Park
This new nature playground in Edmonton features three massive evergreen tree climbers. Each tree is unique inside, offering a different way to climb to the top. This playground includes a number of slides, but the biggest emerges from the middle tree. It’s fast, fun and awesome! There is a smaller slide emerging from one of the other trees, as well as a hill slide and a slide in the toddler playground.
Tons of climbing features stretch throughout this amazing playground. Kids will love the hopping logs, balance beams and agility challenges. There are plenty of accessory features here too, including a tall rope merry-go-round spinner, a massive xylophone, and swings – 1 saucer swing and 2 baby swings.
The toddler playground features a small nature park with two adorable chickadee climbers nearby!
This playground is based in rubber and wood chips. There is a paved pathway surrounding the playground. Tons of seating has been built into this park – both with picnic tables and benches, as well as concrete ledges. The building located next to the playground has a bathroom, water fountain and bottle fill station inside. Tons of mature trees tower over this playground for shade.
This playground was designed by Earthscape Play and installed locally by Earthscape’s partner Park n Play Design. Read more about the design of the playground HERE.
