St. Dominic School

The new playground (June 2024) at St. Dominic School in Edmonton is a standout for a number of reasons. The playground was built by volunteers (including me!) in a special build project organized by Edmonton Catholic Schools. (You can read more about volunteer-built playgrounds HERE.)

The design includes a number of risky play elements that we love! There is a unique rope climber to reach the biggest slide! (Find the same rope climber at Holy Child School in Edmonton.) Many of the features on the playground’s main structure are set quite high, adding to the risky play fun.

This playground includes a number of accessory pieces, including a tall merry-go-round, 2 individual spinners, a musical area and a four-seat teeter-totter, which remained from the original playground. The playground is based in wood chips, but I understand the hope is to continue fundraising to eventually resurface this park with pour-in-place rubber.
