Want to catch every last playground adventure before winter? So do we! We’ve been revisiting some of our very favourite playgrounds around Edmonton and the girls and I agree these are 5 playgrounds you’ll want to visit before the snow flies!

This list was commissioned with the generous support of Habitat Systems – building playgrounds in Edmonton and throughout Western Canada!

Edmonton Playgrounds 5 playgrounds to visit before the snow flies
The stunning Blatford Tomato Playground is one of the playgrounds we think you’ll want to visit before the snow flies!

1. Blatchford Tomato Playground

  • ADDRESS: Blatchford Road, Edmonton
  • WHY WE LOVE IT: When it comes to imaginative play, this spot is off the charts! Climb inside giant tomatoes, weave your way through a garden of vines and bounce on spring-mounted leaves! Even older kids can be transported by the magic of a garden playground set beneath a canopy of bright wildflowers!
  • FUN FACT: Tomato Playground isn’t the only fruit-themed playground Habitat Systems has created! You’ll find THIS little Apple park in Vernon, B.C.

  • WHY WE LOVE IT: Massive slides, hidden monkey bars, unique design – what’s not to love? Our favourite pieces at this playground are the challenging surfboard swing, the tandem Friendship swing and the Mobius Climber, which at first glance looks like a toddler structure but is really aimed at giving kids options for their climbing experience!
  • FUN FACT: Pair this playground with a workout! Emerald Hills Playground is surrounded by HealthBeat Equipment, designed to bring the gym to the great outdoors for exercisers aged 13 and up!

  • WHY WE LOVE IT: It’s the perfect playground for playing grounders! The circuit design of this playground, with everything from balance features on the ground to overhead challenges like the Lolliladder monkey bars, allows kids to travel from one end of the playground to the other without ever leaving the fun!
  • FUN FACT: The SmartPlay Motion structure, pictured above, is famous for the toy car racetrack that encircles it – but there’s much more to this feature than meets the eye! It offers 16 interactive activities addressing developmentally-appropriate skills for kids aged 2-5!

5. Yohemas Park

  • WHY WE LOVE IT: At this stage, we love the level of challenge this playground offers, especially in equipment like the Netplex – a unique climbing system with an infinite number of obstacles! Yohemas Park also has a separate and adorable toddler playground that was just the right size when the girls were small.
